we are starting a new artistic movement that draws attention to the lesbian experience and lifestyle. we want there to be a public lesbian presence in the visual arts world as well as in mainstream culture. we aim to secure a place in history, a genre for lesbians to record their visual language in. this is necessary because our experience of being lesbian in a heteronormative society makes our outlook fundamentally different. each lesbian has a personally constructed desire for women that is more than simply a sexual desire. the 'lesbian gaze' consists of a type of androgyny, which borrows from and sometimes replicates areas of male and female desire. we have all experienced 'otherness' in one form or another, our primary aim is to express this in art.
